Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez has withdrawn from the Germany squad to face Italy in a friendly on Wednesday night.
Gomez suffered strained knee ligaments during Saturday's Bundesliga clash with Cologne and has been ordered to rest until midweek by club doctor Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt.
Germany coach Joachim Low has decided against calling up a replacement for the match in Dortmund, and said on Sunday that he would not be using the match to experiment with his line-up.
"Obviously, the likes of [Philipp] Lahm and [Bastian] Schweinsteiger will play," he said. "I'll basically field a team which has played together before."
