Lennon: Freddie almost ready

Celtic boss Neil Lennon says that Freddie Ljungberg is almost ready to make his bow in the Scottish Premier League and could make an impact in this season's title race.

Ljungberg, 33, joined the club in December after going three months without a game at the end of his time in the MLS with Chicago Fire. And, now he is nearing full fitness again, Lennon thinks the Hoops will begin to see the best of him.

"We wanted to break Freddie in gently because you always worry about him picking up an injury after a spell not playing,'' Lennon said. ''It's still like a pre-season for him but every day he's looking better.

"Freddie is adding a lot on the training ground with his experience. He's quite willing to muck in and talk with the players. He is one of the few guys here to have experienced a title race before along with Scott Brown, Georgios Samaras and Mark Wilson.

"Freddie has been over the course and is itching to get in but with the way the team's playing at the minute, it's difficult to find room for him. He's not far away from a starting place. Friday in training was the best Freddie has looked. He will be important when things get a bit more tense. His experience and quality will be invaluable."
