PSV beaten by last-gasp Verhoek

Wesley Verhoek's stoppage-time strike earned ADO Den Haag a dramatic 1-0 Eredivisie victory over league leaders PSV at the Philips Stadion.

Verhoek notched the game's only goal with virtually the last kick of the game to stun the home fans and keep PSV's advantage at the summit to one point from FC Twente, who can go top with a win at FC Utrecht on Sunday.

ADO's triumph moved the visitors up to fifth - nine points adrift of PSV and ahead of AZ after they lost a lead to Excelsior, whose 2-1 win boosted their survival hopes.

AZ led after 10 minutes as the in-form Kolbeinn Sigthorsson followed up his five-goal haul against VVV-Venlo with the opener.

The lead lasted beyond the hour mark but Tim Vincken equalised from the penalty spot after Dirk Marcellis handled and Jordy Clasie's freak winner settled the match in Excelsior's favour - the midfielder floating in a free-kick from 45 yards which embarrassed keeper Sergio Romero by drifting straight in.

Relegation-threatened VVV bounced back from that 6-1 hammering last week with a much-needed 3-0 win over NAC Breda.

Ahmed Musaab set them on their way after two minutes and they could have made the game safe before half-time, but Ruud Boymans' penalty was saved by Jelle ten Rouwelaar. But Jorge Chula struck in the 58th minute and Achmed Ahahaoui's goal a minute from time was the icing on the cake.

NEC Nijmegen goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen produced a superb late save to ensure his side a share of the spoils in a 0-0 draw with Heerenveen. Clear chances were few and far between but Cillessen maintained his concentration to save from Roy Beerens five minutes from time and keep the teams level.
