Hargreaves out of European squad
Owen Hargreaves has been left out of Manchester United's 25-man Champions League squad, prompting speculation he may have played his final game for the club.
On Monday, Hargreaves, 30, was included in the club's 25-man Premier League squad, which does not require the naming of players under the age of 21, but he has not made the cut for the Champions League. UEFA also permits clubs to name under-21s, but they must have given two years' service to the club.
The midfielder, who has been suffering with knee problems for two years, was named in the starting line-up against Wolves in November but sustained a hamstring injury in the first few minutes. He has not since returned.
Hargreaves' contract is due to expire in the summer and, if he is unable to prove his fitness by the end of the season, it appears he may have played his final game for the club.
Gary Neville was also left out of the squad, which apparently prompted his decision to retire.
