Behrami completes Fiorentina switch

Fiorentina have completed the signing of midfielder Valon Behrami from West Ham United for an undisclosed fee.

Behrami, 25, returns to Italy two-and-a-half years after leaving Lazio for Upton Park in a £5 million deal, though he has enyjoyed mixed fortunes in that time.

The Switzerland international impressed in his debut campaign, having caught the Hammers' attention during Euro 2008, but he suffered a serious knee ligament injury in March 2009 that kept him out for more than six months.

It is thought that Behrami had been seeking a move away from the Hammers for some time and had previously stated that he felt homesick in England.

A statement on West Ham's official website said: "The club would like to thank Behrami for his contribution and wish him every success for the future."
