Stearman targets England call-up
Wolves central defender Richard Stearman is targeting an England call-up after signing a new three-and-a-half year contract.
The former Leicester player put pen to paper on a new deal earlier in the week and has ambitions to eventually play for his country.
Stearman said: "I feel I've come on leaps and bounds since I arrived at Wolves. This is the first time I've had a sustained run in the Premier League in my natural position of centre-half.
"I hope I'm rewarding the gaffer (Mick McCarthy) for keeping faith in me and I aspire to get better. I want to continue playing for Wolves in the Premier League - but I've got international aspirations as well.''
Stearman is relieved to have tied up his future in a deal which keeps him at Molineux until the summer of 2014.
"It's been in the back of my mind now for a while that my contract has been running down," he said. "It's great to have got something agreed. Players are rewarded here for what they do on the pitch and now I can just concentrate on my football.''
