Now Burton 'stood down' by Sky

Sky Sports have removed reporter Andy Burton from Wednesday night's Carling Cup semi-final second leg between Birmingham and West Ham after he was implicated in the Sian Massey sexism storm.

Sky duo in hot water

• Sky drops Gray and Keys
• Fifth Official: Humble pie for Sky

A video emerged on Monday evening, broadcast by Sky News, showing Burton joking with the now suspended summariser Andy Gray about there being a female assistant referee for the Wolverhampton Wanderers versus Liverpool Premier League game on Saturday lunchtime.

Burton referred to Massey, who will run the line at Crewe Alexandra's home game against Bradford City on Tuesday night, as a "bit of a looker'' as Gray again made comments about women not knowing the offside rule. Gray was originally caught out making the same comments along with presenter Richard Keys, who also made a slur against West Ham United vice-chairman Karren Brady, when they thought the mics were off.

Sky Sports removed Keys and Gray from duty for the Premier League game between Bolton and Chelsea and have declined to comment on when the pair would be back fronting the channel's football coverage. The broadcaster insisted they had not been sacked.

Keys telephoned Massey on Sunday night to apologise for his remarks. Gray did not call Massey to say sorry but Sky Sports insisted that Keys had done so on behalf of them both.
