Davies: No guarantees for Tshabalala
Nottingham Forest boss Billy Davies has told South African midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala that he still has to earn his move to England.
Tshabalala, who wants to stay with current club Kaizer Chiefs in a bid to win the title this season, impressed while on trial and returned to South Africa in high spirits, claiming that he was looking forward to returning to Nottingham in a few months time. But Davies has warned that he cannot expect a guaranteed deal.
He told BBC Radio Nottingham: "We've looked at him and told him we would monitor his progress. And then, depending on the progress, and what situation is, we will review it in the (European) summer - with no guarantees."
Tshabalala's agent Jazzman Mahlakgane also played down reports that he had signed a deal, claiming that his club would have the final say.
He told Football365.co.za: "I think Forest were very, very impressed with him. Chiefs will be given their assessment first and shown their intentions before we can start trying to finalise things.
"It would be fantastic move for Siphiwe - Forest have a great history and he would love to be a part of that."
