Bundesliga pair go through

Kaiserslautern and Nurnberg both booked their places in the DFB Pokal quarter-finals this evening at the expense of third-tier opposition.

Kaiserslautern had to overturn a half-time deficit to win their place in the last eight with a 4-1 win at TuS Koblenz.

Thomas Klasen's 17th-minute strike had given the home team a shock lead but Srdjan Lakic notched twice early in the second half to turn the tie around.

Adam Nemec gave the visitors a two-goal cushion after 64 minutes and Lakic completed his hat-trick a minute later to seal the rout and set up a quarter-final meeting with Duisburg.

Meanwhile, a goal in each half from Belgian midfielder Timmy Simons clinched Nurnberg a 2-0 win at Kickers Offenbach to earn the Bundesliga side a last-eight date with Schalke.

Offenbach headed into the match eyeing another upset after beating Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund in the last round, but Simons opened the scoring after 20 minutes and put the result beyond doubt midway through the second period.
