Adelaide sign Croatian defender Bodrusic

Croatian defender Dario Bodrusic has signed with Adelaide United for the remainder of the Australian A-League season, the club says.

Bodrusic's recruitment comes after the imminent departure of central defender Ian Fyfe to South Korea.

Adelaide head coach Rini Coolen said the club had been on the lookout for a central defender to aid their push for the A-League title.

Adelaide are third in the standings with five regular-season games left.

"He is a left-footed central defender which is a great benefit to have, he can also play in other positions, he is 27 and he has had international experience," Dutchman Coolen said.

Bodrusic represented Croatia nine times at Under 21 level and has played his club football mainly in Croatia and Albania.
