Giampaolo gets vote of confidence

Catania coach Marco Giampaolo has been handed a vote of confidence despite his team's poor run of form.

Sunday's 1-1 draw against Chievo dropped Catania to 15th in Serie A, three points clear of the relegation zone. Catania have won just once in their past seven games and reports in Italy have suggested the club are considering potential replacements for under-fire Giampaolo.

However, Catania club administrator Pietro Lo Monaco rubbished the rumours and insisted Giampaolo will remain in charge of the team until the end of the season.

He said: "For some time I had read in the press that Giampaolo's job is under threat and that we are evaluating a coaching change but that is not true.

"Our only focus right now is on recovering some of the many players that are out injured. Of course we are not happy with our recent results and we should have won against Chievo but I'm confident the team can bounce back."

Catania travel to Parma on Saturday before hosting Serie A leaders AC Milan on January 29th.
