Tshabalala on trial with Forest
South Africa international Siphiwe Tshabalala is to undergo at week-long trial with Championship side Nottingham Forest.
Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Tshabalala, 26, is said to have received interest from clubs in the Premier League after he scored the opening goal of the World Cup, but agent Jazzman Mahlakgane feels he can make good progress at the City Ground.
"Actually there are two teams that interested in 'Shabba' and Nottingham were the first to send him and invitation to come over for assessment," he told Kick Off.
"I was there for two weeks and I can say I was very impressed with the club setup and I am sure Tshabalala won't struggle to impress during his trial.
"The good thing is that he is not going to India or China and everybody is watching English football and if he signs there will be more exposure."
Forest have already agreed a deal for USA international Robbie Findley, who also featured at the World Cup, and the striker is excited about the prospect of playing in England.
"I did watch football when I was growing up," he told the Nottingham Post. "I watched the Premier League on television. Hopefully we can be part of that league in the future, with Forest.
"My family is from Trinidad and football is obviously pretty big out there. When they moved to the States, he would take me to the games he played in every weekend.
"I just grew up around the game. I played basketball a little, but soccer was where it was at for me. It is a growing sport back home. It will probably be the next generation when it really kicks in, but it is getting far more popular every year.
"Having the likes of (David) Beckham and (Thierry) Henry involved brings in more fans and things are only going to continue to grow, but I wanted to come here because it is a different level, depending on where you end up. The pace of the game is different. I guess it is just something I have always wanted to try."
He added: "I was at Wolves for a few days and they wanted to see me train. It didn't work out and I am glad I made the decisions I did.
"Having talked to people at Forest, I feel I have made the right decision."
