Hart in no rush over City contract talks

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart says he is happy to wait for talks about a new contract with the club to begin, amid reports that he will be offered a bumper new deal at Eastlands.

Hart, 23, has established himself as City's No. 1 ahead of Shay Given this season, and is now also England coach Fabio Capello's first-choice between the posts.

The former Shrewbury goalkeeper has come a long way in the past 12 months, with some superb displays during a loan spell at Birmingham last season earning him widespread acclaim.

He has continued to be a model of consistency for most of the current campaign, and City are reportedly ready to offer him a huge pay rise in order to tie him down to the club for the forseeable future.

And despite contract discussions not yet starting, Hart says he is unworried and expects to be given the opportunity to commit his future to the club soon.

"There haven't been any talks yet because City have publicly stated they're not going to discuss contracts with any player until the summer," Hart told the Sunday Mirror.

"At the end of the season I'll still have two years left to run on my deal, so it's really not an issue at the moment. But I want to stay here at City for as long as I can and I am sure things will move forward at the end of the season."
