Steve Kean is optimistic about Blackburn Rovers' chances of signing USA midfielder Jermaine Jones from Schalke.
Steve Kean confirmed he intended to bolster his midfield after his first dip into the transfer market as Rovers boss saw striker Roque Santa Cruz return to Ewood Park on loan from Manchester City.
Blackburn reportedly had a bid rejected for Espanyol forward Pablo Daniel Osvaldo on Friday, but Kean remained confident of agreeing terms with Jones and bringing in other new faces in January.
"We've got initial paperwork for Jermaine. If we can push that through in the early part of next week then that'll be a great signing for us," Kean told Sky Sports. "There was a signing that almost happened on Friday that went backwards a little bit. So if we can get that back on track, I'm confident that will happen, that will be another two in.
"Then we can look and assess the injuries that are coming back and if they're coming back then that's fantastic, if not then we might add another one."
