Mbokani set on Monaco exit

Monaco striker Dieumerci Mbokani insists the club's change of coach has made no difference to his desire to leave.

Mbokani, a DR Congo international, has failed to settle at the Stade Louis II since his summer move from Standard Liege, making just ten first-team appearances as the Monegasques have slipped to 17th in Ligue 1.

Guy Lacombe, who brought him to the club, was replaced by Laurent Banide on Monday but it has failed to persuade Mbokani to change his mind.

"I stand by my decision," the 25-year-old, who has been linked with Everton and Hoffenheim, told L'Equipe. "I still want to leave. I haven't changed my opinion. It has come too late.

"I have told the vice-president (Michel Aubery) that if he had an offer for me, he must accept it."

Mbokani's own form has come in for criticism, with his only goal of the season coming against Lorient in September.

"I have had a difficult spell, it's true, but what footballer hasn't? The whole team has struggled," he said. "How can you judge me on ten games? Also, I was bought to score goals, but in this system I have to defend a lot. Often, it feels like I am playing in midfield.

"If I continue to work like I have, you will see goals. I will score goals, here or elsewhere."

He added: "I believe strongly in God. We will see what he has in store for me."
