Sunderland make third Sessegnon bid

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has made a third bid for Paris St Germain midfielder Stephane Sessegnon as he attempts to bolster his squad during the transfer window.

• Muntari snubs Sunderland approach

It emerged last week the Wearsiders had made enquiries over loan deals for both Sessegnon and Inter Milan's Sulley Muntari, although Bruce admitted on Wednesday that they had made little progress.

However, Bruce now appears to have stepped up his interest in Sessegnon - making an offer to take him on a permanent deal - as he looks to strengthen his hand for the second half of the season.

Injuries having robbed Sunderland of the likes of Lee Cattermole, Danny Welbeck and Fraizer Campbell in recent weeks.
