Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud admits the club are unlikely to be able to complete the signing of Lorient forward Kevin Gameiro.
Shareholder Nicolas de Tavernost confirmed that Les Girondins had had an offer accepted for the player, who has scored eight goals in 17 games this season and made his France debut in September's European Championship qualifying defeat to Belarus.
Gameiro, though, favours a move to Valencia.
Triaud told L'Equipe: ''Until he poses with the Spanish club's jersey, we can continue to hope. But I am not very optimistic.''
