Monaco replace Lacombe

Monaco have removed Guy Lacombe from his position as coach in the wake of the club's elimination from the Coupe de France at the weekend.

Coupe de France round-up

Lacombe has been replaced by Laurent Banide after Monaco president Etienne Franzi called for a reorganisation of the management team.

A statement posted on the club's official website did not confirm whether Lacombe had left the club or been assigned to another role. His contract at State Louis II is due to expire in June.

Monaco have suffered a poor campaign and sit just one place and one point above the relegation zone in Ligue 1.

Their elimination from the Coupe de France on Saturday came at the hands of amateur side Chambery, who prevailed in a penalty shootout.

"Following the elimination in the Coupe de France, president of AS Monaco Football Club, Etienne Franzi, convened the [board] to conduct the review of the sports situation," the statement read.

"He [felt] that the defeat in Chambery, coming after a very disappointing first half of the season ... required a reorganisation of the management team. It was therefore decided to entrust with immediate effect the responsibility to Laurent Banide.''

Banide has a long association with Monaco, having begun his career with the club as a youth player before progressing to the first team and latterly to a number of coaching roles.

He rose to the position of head coach between October 2006 and June 2007 and has most recently been working in the Middle East.
