Redknapp may opt to keep Beckham

Harry Redknapp is ready to sign David Beckham beyond his short-term loan deal if he impresses at White Hart Lane.

• Spurs: Becks deal close
• Ferguson questions Beckham loan

Beckham is poised to sign a two-month contract at Tottenham Hotspur which will take him up to the start of the new MLS season, when he is due to return to LA Galaxy.

But the former England captain is in the final year of his lucrative five-year deal in the United States, and there is the chance he may be allowed to return home for good. That is an option which Redknapp is ready to consider should Beckham prove he is still able to offer something in the Premier League.

"Yes it's a possibility, of course," Redknapp told the Sunday Mirror. "I could do, for sure. It just depends on how it all goes.

"If he comes and does well then he will, I am certain, have lots of offers. They will want him in Qatar I would think. They will want him all over the world.

"But we would want him as well. I think he will be a good influence. David will be good around the place, good in the dressing room and good with the other players.

"He has great know-how and he knows how to win games. He has been in teams that have won everything like Manchester United. He will be good for us on the pitch with his knowledge.''
