FA: No Becks for England

The Football Association has denied any talks have taken place lining up David Beckham for an England management role alongside Harry Redknapp.

Press Pass Extra: Becks disrespecting MLS?

• Galaxy approve Beckham loan

A report emerged on Wednesday suggesting the FA had moved to team up Tottenham manager Redknapp with former England captain Beckham to lead the national side when Fabio Capello steps down after Euro 2012.

But an FA spokesman said: "There are no such talks and we have not discussed any potential succession plan with anyone at this point.''

The report indicated FA chiefs had held "informal discussions'' with 63-year-old Redknapp over becoming England boss, with 35-year-old Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder Beckham his assistant, with the long-term plan for the former Manchester United star to take on the top job.

Ironically, Beckham could be managed by Redknapp in the short term if Tottenham secure his services on loan from Los Angeles. The Major League Soccer club has given Beckham permission to make a temporary switch to Europe and Tottenham are one of the frontrunners to sign him.
