Kean set for long stay

Blackburn Rovers boss Steve Kean is set to remain in charge at Blackburn for "at least two to three years", according to the club's chairperson, Anuradha Desai.

Blackburn confirm Ronaldinho interest

After Sam Allardyce was sacked in December by the Venky's Group, former first-team coach Kean was handed the reins on a temporary basis.

Many thought Neil McDonald, Allardyce's assistant, should have been appointed, but former Coventry City assistant boss Kean stepped into the breach and was told he had the job until the end of the season.

Rovers have only won one game since Kean took charge, but Desai insists the 43-year-old is the right man for the job and he will be rewarded with a longer-term contract.

"He is going to stay beyond the end of the season," she told Sky Sports News. "We are making a contract for him which is going to be like a full-time contract, it's not just about this season. At least two to three years.

"He is a very positive person, he thinks well. He has a vision, and he thinks well of Blackburn Rovers. He's a good thinker and that's his biggest strength."
