Lille clear as Marseille slip up

Moussa Sow hit a hat-trick as Lille saw off the challenge of Lorient with four second-half goals in a 6-3 win to go one point clear at the top of the table.

The hosts have firmly established themselves as Ligue 1 title contenders in recent weeks but went behind early to a Kevin Gameiro strike.

Sow scored and then forced an own goal from Maxime Baca to turn the game around before Gameiro levelled on the stroke of half-time.

Sow restored Lille's lead only for Lynel Kitambala to bring the visitors level again before their revival was finally killed off as Gervinho added a fourth, Sow completed his hat-trick and, after Lorient goalkeeper Fabien Audard had been sent off, Pierre-Alain Frau rounded off the scoring.

Emerse Fae struck an injury-time winner to give Nice a 1-0 victory in the south coast derby as Marseille missed the chance to go top.

Fae added the finish to a flowing counter-attack to leave OM two points behind Lille. Nice could find themselves in hot water with the authorities, though, because of a bottle thrown at visiting goalkeeper Steve Mandanda.

Paris St Germain moved into second place in Ligue 1 as they recorded a 3-1 victory over Brest.

Brazilian midfielder Nene opened the scoring for Antoine Kombouare's side in the first half before Nolan Roux levelled for the visitors, but further goals from Mathieu Bodmer and Ludovic Giuly sealed three points that put PSG within a point of leaders Lille.

A late equaliser from Fernando helped Bordeaux secure a 2-2 draw against St Etienne at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.

The hosts had looked set to take the spoils after two goals in three minutes from Albin Ebondo and Carlos Bocanegra had put them 2-1 up in the second half but Les Girondins, who had taken the lead through Fahid Ben Khalfallah, levelled with just two minutes to play as Fernando nodded home.

Bordeaux would have climbed to fifth place with a win, but this stalemate leaves both clubs firmly ensconced in mid-table.
