Kenny Miller on target again for Rangers

Rangers got back to winning ways with a 2-0 win at home to Aberdeen to move four points clear at the top of the SPL.

• European gallery The champions, who suffered their first defeat of the season against Hibernian on Wednesday, bounced back and took an early lead through top scorer Kenny Miller, who scored his 15th goal of the season with an improvised backwards header.

Miller had the chance to double his account shortly before half-time after Zander Diamond brought down Steven Whittaker for a penalty, but his spot-kick was well saved by Jamie Langfield. By this time Rangers were already two goals to the good after Vladimir Weiss had doubled their lead, lashing home after the Dons defence failed to clear their lines.

The result leaves Aberdeen hovering perilously close to the bottom of the table, but they are a point clear of Hamilton, who let a lead slip at home to Inverness. Dougie Imrie put the home side ahead, but three goals in ten minutes gave Inverness a 3-1 victory at New Douglas Park.

Adam Rooney latched onto the ball to fire home from close range to level before Jonny Hayes turned the result on its head when he thundered in a second. Rooney's header put the icing on the cake for Terry Butcher's men.

Captain Derek Riordan scored twice as Hibernian came from behind to beat Motherwell 2-1 and claim back-to-back victories for the first time this season.

Motherwell took the lead courtesy of a Nick Blackman penalty after Michael Hart tugged on Jamie Murphy's shirt, but their lead lasted just four minutes as Riordan fired a low strike past 'keeper Darren Randolph. And Riordan was on hand to seal all three points for Hibs after an error from Well skipper Stephen Craigan.

Hibs' Edinburgh rivals Hearts moved up to third after notching their seventh win of the season with a 2-0 victory over St Johnstone. Kevin Kyle's penalty looked to be the only goal of the game, but Ryan Stevenson's last-gasp strike sealed a third win for Jim Jefferies' men.

Conor Sammon scored his third goal in a week but Kilmarnock were held to a 1-1 draw by Dundee United at Tannadice. Kilmarnock's lead lasted just a minute after Sammon's opener was cancelled out by Johnny Russell.
