Denmark coach Olsen to quit post in 2012

Denmark coach Morten Olsen has announced he will leave his post at the end of his side's Euro 2012 campaign.

Olsen has been in charge of the Denmark national team for 10 years, during which time he has guided them to the quarter-finals of Euro 2004 as well as the 2002 and 2010 World Cup finals.

The 61-year-old's contract is due to run out after the finals in Poland and Ukraine and he has revealed that he will not be looing to renew it.

"These will be my final qualifiers. I informed the federation yesterday that I didn't wish to prolong my contract,'' Olsen said. "It is all very unremarkable.

"I am simply announcing this decision now because it is extremely important that the DBU have sufficient time to find the right replacement.

"Now it is all about getting the team to Euro 2012. It is important that I hand over good players and a good team to my successor.''

Denmark currently sit third in Euro 2012 qualifying Group H, three points behind leaders Norway.

Olsen, a former Denmark captain, will leave his post as the only Dane to have played and coached his country 100 times.
