Phoenix extend unbeaten run, Adelaide held

Wellington Phoenix set a new A-League record for consecutive games unbeaten at home with a 2-2 draw against Melbourne Heart at Westpac Stadium.

Chris Greenacre had given the hosts the lead but a John Aloisi penalty and a Matt Thompson strike turned the game on its head.

However, Leo Bertos equalised in the 60th minute to rescue a point and extend the Phoenix's unbeaten record at home to 24 games.

Greenacre opened the scoring in the sixth minute when he slotted home after latching onto a pass from Manny Muscat but Heart hit back eight minutes later when Adrian Zahara had been fouled inside the area and Aloisi converted from the spot.

Heart, bidding for their first away win of the season, regained the lead in the 36th minute when Thompson capitalised on poor defending to fire home.

But Bertos sealed a share of the spoils when he rifled a shot from outside the area into the back of the net on the hour mark.

Phoenix are sixth in the standings with 12 points while Heart are one place below on goal difference.

Meanwhile, A-League leaders Adelaide United were held to a goalless draw by Gold Coast United at Skilled Park.

In a game of few goalscoring opportunities, Sergio van Dijk had the most noteworthy chance for either side when the Adelaide striker ballooned a header just over the crossbar early in the second half.

The point extends Adelaide's advantage at the top of the standings to six points while Gold Coast climb to fourth.
