Stuttgart have sacked Christian Gross after the Swiss head coach oversaw a disastrous start to the Bundesliga season.
Gross took the club from 16th to 6th last season after replacing Markus Babbel but Stuttgart started the new campaign with six defeats from their opening seven games, leaving them bottom of the table.
Their solitary victory was a 7-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach but the rout could not turn the club's fortunes around and Stuttgart have lost all three matches since, including home games against Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt.
"Following detailed analysis of the current sporting situation, Christian Gross has been relieved of his duties as head coach of VfB Stuttgart with immediate effect," read a club statement.
"From today [Wednesday], Jens Keller will take charge of the first team and prepare the side for their away clash with FC Schalke 04 on Saturday."
