Switzerland boss Hitzfeld targets must-win game

Switzerland manager Ottmar Hitzfeld says his side must beat Wales on Tuesday if they are to qualify for the finals of Euro 2012.

Switzerland lost their second straight qualifying match on Friday, going down 1-0 in Montenegro, meaning Tuesday's clash with the Welsh is now a crucial one.

"We must not lose our nerve,'' said Hitzfeld. "We desperately need a win so that we can release the tension and we have got to beat Wales on Tuesday to start our recovery.''

Defeats to England and Montenegro have left the Swiss at the bottom of qualifying Group G, but Hitzfeld does not expect the Montenegrins to carry on their current charge which has seen them win three games by the same 1-0 scoreline.

"Nobody would have expected Montenegro to have picked up nine points from their first three games,'' he said. "That is a mini sensation, but they have beaten Wales and Switzerland in home games.''

Switzerland host Wales in Basle on Tuesday while Montenegro are at Wembley against England.
