Di Santo injury not as bad as feared

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has been given a lift with the news striker Franco Di Santo has not damaged his ankle ligaments.

The Wigan boss had feared Di Santo could be sidelined for weeks, even months, after he was injured in a challenge by Birmingham's Craig Gardner during Saturday's 0-0 draw at St Andrew's in the Premier League match.

However, the former Chelsea player underwent a scan on Tuesday which has revealed no serious damage to his ankle - and he could be fit enough to face Wolves this weekend at the DW Stadium.
