Fabianski confident ahead of Chelsea test

Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski says he has no fears as he prepares to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Fabianski is expected to start against the Blues as Manuel Almunia remains doubtful with an elbow problem, but he has made a series of blunders on his first-team appearances for the club.

Having saved a penalty in the 3-1 victory against Partizan Belgrade on Tuesday, though, Fabianski has been making headlines for the right reasons, yet he says he has never doubted his ability.

"I am ready to play against Chelsea," he said. "I was always ready, so we will see. I was never really bothered by all the things said.

"I was always trying to focus on my job and my work. That is what I was always doing and that why I am grounded."

He added: "We are playing really well this season. The beginning was really good for us. There was a big shock on Saturday when we lost (against West Brom), but I think you could see against Partizan that we had learned some things from Saturday.

"The performance was much better so we are looking forward to the Chelsea game. It is going to be an exciting one to watch, and we are in good condition."

Left-back Kieran Gibbs maintains Fabianski has the support of the whole team.

The England international, just back from a foot injury, had an extra reason to be grateful for the Pole's late penalty stop, having tripped Ivan Stevanovic to give away the spot-kick.

"He is a great keeper or else he wouldn't be here at Arsenal,'' Gibbs said. "I owe him a lot, although I can't really remember much about (giving away) the penalty. He put in a great performance. That is what he is in the team to do. Saving the penalty was just as important as scoring a goal for us.

"I think he felt like he had a point to prove. He has shown great character and he doesn't hide away. We do feel for him (after the criticism he has had) because we know his quality and he has shown them against Partizan - that is why I think he expressed that after he had saved the penalty and all credit to him.''
