Motta expecting tough City test
Juventus defender Marco Motta has warned that big spending does not always translate into success ahead of Thursday's game against Manchester City.
City have had mixed results so far this season after another summer of heavy investment, while Juventus, who have brought in the likes of Milos Krasic, Alberto Aquilani and Fabio Quagliarella as well as coach Luigi Del Neri, are currently ninth in Serie A.
City host Juve in the Europa League on Thursday and, with both sides yet to reach their full potential, Motta is expecting a tight contest.
"City is proof of how big-name signings and big spending, almost €100 million if I'm not mistaken, is not enough to obtain great results, but it's clear that they are a rival that have all of our respect," he told Sky Italia. "We will have to be on guard.
"We are trying to adapt with the arrival of at least ten new elements this summer. To assemble the newcomers takes time. Winning helps you win, and allows you to train meeting the expectations of the fans, the club and a great coach like we have."
