Bhoys hold on to protect 100% record

Celtic maintained their 100% record and moved to the top of the SPL table with a 2-1 victory over Hibernian at Celtic Park.

Goals from Glenn Loovens and Scott Brown gave Neil Lennon's side a comfortable lead, before Derek Riordan - formerly of Celtic - pulled a goal back to ensure a nervy finish.

But Hibs were unable to repeat their heroics of last season - where they were the only SPL team to win at Celtic Park - as the home side held on for victory.

Chris Humphrey excelled for Hearts as they recorded a 2-0 success away at Motherwell that takes them to third in the table. Humphrey laid goals on a plate for Nick Blackman and John Sutton as 'Well made it three out of three on the road this campaign.

Dundee United secured their second SPL win of the season with a 1-0 victory over St Johnstone in a fiery Tayside derby.

David Goodwillie scored the only goal of the game when he reacted quickest to turn a loose ball home after a Paul Dixon corner in the 61st minute.

Elsewhere, Hamilton climbed off the bottom of the table despite surrendering a 2-0 lead at home to Kilmarnock. Accies appeared to be cruising towards victory after strikes from Flavio Paixao and Nigel Hasselbaink, but Connor Sammon's last-minute equaliser and Jamie Hamill's penalty levelled the scores.

St Mirren are now rooted to the foot of the division after two goals from Eric Odhiambo saw them fall to a 2-1 home defeat to Inverness Caledonian Thistle, while David Goodwillie handed Dundee United a 1-0 triumph over St Johnstone at Tannadice.
