Liverpool winger Ryan Babel has been dropped from Netherlands' squad for their upcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers against Moldova and Sweden.
Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk has announced his preliminary squad for the game against Moldova on October 8 and Sweden on October 12, but could find no place for Babel - who has struggled for form and playing time at Anfield this season - despite the fact that Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben is still out injured.
Van Marwijk also controversially gave a call-up to PSV defender Wilfred Bouma as a replacement for centre-back Ron Vlaar, as he has only recently made his bow in the club's senior side after a lengthy injury lay-off.
Experienced striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has also been call-up to replace injured Arsenal star Robin van Persie, having retired from international football after Euro 2008, only to change his mind but still miss out on a place in the 2010 World Cup squad.
