Lafferty delighted to stay with Gers

Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty has revealed he had no interest in talking to Blackpool this summer as he wants to prove himself at Ibrox.

Lafferty, 23, joined Rangers from Burnley in 2008 but, with Nikica Jelavic and James Beattie having signed this summer, there were suggestions he would be allowed to move on.

However, Walter Smith decided to turn down Blackpool's offer for the striker and, after scoring a hat-trick in the cup against Dunfermline this week, Lafferty says he is delighted to have a future at the club.

"I didn't know where I stood in the summer when the boss brought two strikers in. Thankfully he told me I was still in his plans," Lafferty told the Daily Record.

"It would be very hard for me to leave a club that I support. I know I'll win trophies here and, at such a young age, that's hard to beat.

"I didn't know about the Blackpool bid until the last day of the transfer window. Rangers knocked it back and I didn't even want to speak to them. I'm happy at Rangers and I want to carry on at Ibrox."
