Mancini: No bust-up with Adebayor

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has again insisted that there has been no falling out between himself and Emmanuel Adebayor, and also claimed no club will get wantaway goalkeeper Shay Given on the cheap.

• Toure ready for Chelsea test
• Review: Blue Moon Rising

Newspaper reports claimed that Mancini had jettisoned Adebayor from his first team squad for feigning injury. Other stories claimed the two had been involved in an angry exchange in the dressing room, which has also been denied.

Adebayor, who has played just 22 minutes of Premier League football this term and not featured since coming off the bench in the 1-0 defeat at Sunderland last month, is back in the squad for Wednesday night's Carling Cup date with West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.

"It is false that I fought in the dressing room or the pitch with Emmanuel Adebayor,'' said Mancini. "We discussed his situation, that is all.''

Mancini has already confirmed he will allow Given, who will also face West Brom, to find a new club in January. But he insists there is no chance of the Ireland international leaving for less than his true worth.

"Shay is an important player and he will cost someone a lot of money,'' said the City boss. "I said Shay could leave the club if he wants and we have a good option but if he stayed it would be okay for me.''

Ireland coach Giovanni Trapattoni as indicated that Given could find himself a club in Italy. He said: "Me and Marco (Tardelli) have spoken with some Italian teams. Shay is kept in high regards by many clubs but goalkeeper is a difficult position.

"One or two Italian teams need a goalkeeper. There is interest in him. There are clubs in Italy with inferior goalkeepers. If he has the opportunity, maybe he will ask to leave City."

Mancini, meanwhile, believes it would be "crazy'' if he did not have a dressing room full of unhappy players considering the number of star names he has at his disposal.

"It is impossible that all the players are happy,'' he said. "At every club it is normal, 11 players are happy, the rest are not. If a player is happy when he doesn't play, he is crazy. It is important that he is unhappy. It is also important that he continues to work so that I have a chance to change my mind.''
