Spurs legend Smith dies

Tottenham have announced the death of former striker Bobby Smith at the age of 77.

Smith played as a centre forward for Spurs as they won the Double in the 1960-61 season, scoring 33 goals in the First Division and FA Cup that year. Spurs have not won the title since.

Smith scored in the 2-0 win over Leicester in the FA Cup final that year as well as the 3-1 victory over Burnley in the following year's final. He was also part of the European Cup Winners' Cup success of 1963.

Smith died in hospital on Saturday evening following a short illness and a message on Spurs' official website read: "It is with great regret that we announce the death of Bobby Smith, our legendary centre-forward from our great Double-winning side of 1960-61.

"We extend our sincere condolences to the family of Bobby Smith at this very sad time."
