Coyle joins Allardyce's assault on Wenger

Bolton manager Owen Coyle has joined Blackburn counterpart Sam Allardyce in his criticism of Arsene Wenger, blasting the Arsenal boss for his public attack on Paul Robinson.

Big Sam: Wenger influencing refs

Coyle is angry that Wenger criticised Robinson for a challenge on Abou Diaby during the week after Arsenal's 4-1 win on Saturday, insisting if Wenger had any issues with the match he should "say it to my face".

Coyle also questioned Wenger's character, revealing how the Frenchman changed his tune after being complimentary towards Bolton immediately after their Premier League clash.

Coyle said: "I sent Arsene a text after the game to apologise for missing him as we had to catch a train back north. He sent me back a text saying we were a good team. I understand if people say things after games when a player gets injured. We all do that. But if I am there, say it to my face."

Wenger had said Robinson should have been sent off for his challenge on Diaby, who was injured as a result. Wenger also called for the retrospective use of video technology to bring about suspensions for Robinson and other players who go unpunished for dangerous tackles.

Allardyce this week hit out at Wenger's alleged attempts at influencing referees with his public comments, insisting the Arsenal boss has "most of the media in his pocket".
