Chievo look to extend advantage

Chievo are keen to enjoy the view from the top of Serie A for as long as possible as they bid to make it three wins from three against Brescia on Sunday.

Two consecutive victories at the start the season have left Chievo as the only side in the division not to have dropped a point. The Flying Donkeys, though, are not in unfamiliar territory, having topped the standings in the 2000-01 campaign.

"The strength is in the club, the good atmosphere and in the group of players," Chievo coach Stefano Pioli said, "but we know that our journey will be an arduous one and that sooner or later the strength of the top clubs, those that have been up and down early on, will come out."

This weekend's encounter should prove a stiff test for Chievo with former coach Giusepppe Iachini, now in charge of Brescia, visiting. Iachini led Chievo to promotion in 2008 before being dismissed by the club following a poor start to the 2008/09 campaign.

Rafael Benitez's Inter Milan will try to end Palermo's unbeaten run at the Renzo Barbera stadium. The Sicilian outfit's last defeat at their home came back in March 2009.

Inter go into the encounter on the back of a 2-2 midweek draw at FC Twente in their Champions League opener, and reports in Italy have suggested Benitez is now considering major changes to his side.

Cagliari and Bari will battle it out at the San Nicola stadium with both sides also unbeaten so far.

Sampdoria, meanwhile, host a Napoli side still looking for its first victory of the campaign.

Newly-promoted Cesena will go up against Lecce, just a few months after the two sides met in a battle for supremacy in Serie B.

Cesena are the only team in Italy's top flight that has yet to concede a goal, with one coming against AC Milan, a 2-0 victory last time out.

Milan, who beat Auxerre 2-0 in their midweek Champions League opener, host Catania.

One club still licking their wounds from the last round of games is Roma, who received a 5-1 hammering at Cagliari in the last round and then lost 2-0 at Bayern Munich in the Champions League. They will face Bologna at the Stadio Olimpico this weekend.

Udinese and Juventus will meet at the Friuli stadium with both teams seeking their first win of the campaign.

Fiorentina coach Sinisa Mihajlovic is also looking for win number one when he leads the Viola against the club he once played for, Lazio.

Mihajlovic replaced Cesare Prandelli at the helm of Fiorentina this summer but his team has claimed just one point from two matches.

Genoa will visit Parma looking for a change in fortunes. They suffered a 3-1 defeat at home to Chievo in the last round while Parma followed up a season-opening victory over Brescia with a 2-1 defeat to Catania.
