N'Zogbia: I wasn't "interested enough" in Blues move

Charles N'Zogbia claims he "just wasn't interested enough" in a move to Birmingham and insists he is happy to stay at Wigan.

N'Zogbia was on the verge of leaving the DW Stadium during the transfer window when Wigan accepted an offer from the Midlands club, but the move reportedly broke down over the player's wage demands.

The 24-year-old came on as a substitue in Wigan's 1-1 draw with Sunderland on Saturday - his first Premier League action since late August and the 6-0 home defeat to Chelsea.

Now he says he is focused on the future. "Now the transfer window has closed, we all have to try to forget about what has happened in the past,'' N'Zogbia told the Wigan Evening Post.

"I was close to going to Birmingham but, in the end, I just wasn't interested enough. It wasn't the right club for me and I wanted to stay with Wigan. I'm fine now, happy with the situation, and just want to get back onto the field and play my football.''

Meanwhile, Tom Cleverley has targeted a first start for Wigan when they take on Manchester City on Sunday.

Cleverley is on loan from City's rivals Manchester United and is keen to take points off Roberto Mancini's side if he gets the nod to start. He said: "Obviously I'd love to get one over United's rivals on Sunday, if selected.

"It's games like this that I came to Wigan to play, and hopefully we can do something against them. I only got 20 minutes against Sunderland but it was nice to get out there on the pitch.

"Obviously the circumstances were difficult, 1-0 down and they were just sitting in there. But we equalised and could even have won it at the end. My focus now is getting a good week of training under my belt and proving to the gaffer I deserve a place on the pitch against City."
