Hibs dealt Duffy metatarsal blow

Hibernian have suffered an injury blow after learning that striker Darryl Duffy has been ruled out for two months with a broken metatarsal.

Duffy, 26, is on loan from Bristol Rovers but has yet to make his debut for Hibs and will now have to wait another six to eight weeks before he can make that bow.

He was due to play in the 1-1 draw with Inverness at Easter Road on Saturday, but Hibs boss John Hughes confirmed that the forward was missing because of the injury, sustained in training on Friday.

"He has broken his metatarsal, so he'll be out for six to eight weeks," Hughes said. "He just turned, nobody near him and heard it pop. That's the cards we have been dealt and we just need to get on with it."

Having sold Anthony Stokes to Celtic on transder deadline day, Hughes has been left with just three fit forwards - Derek Riordan, Colin Nish and youngster Danny Galbraith.

The Hibs manager has reportedly been tracking FC Twente striker Romano Denneboom, while he may choose to turn to Lithuania frontman Valdas Trakys, who has been on trial at the club.
