Ibra and Robinho excited by Milan challenge
Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robinho have played for some of the biggest clubs in the world but none have stirred their emotions as much as their new team, AC Milan.
Ibrahimovic, who once played for cross-city rivals Inter Milan and then spent last season with Barcelona, and Robinho, the former Real Madrid winger, were unveiled by the Rossoneri on Thursday. Both are expected to make their debuts on Saturday at newly-promoted Cesena.
"I was close to joining Milan four years ago," Ibrahimovic said. "Finally, I have arrived. I have played in so many teams before in my career but this is the nicest jersey. Milan must win everything."
The 28-year-old says he has a burning desire to succeed like never before. His one-year sojourn to Barcelona did not go as expected with the club more than willing to take a loss and sell him before this summer's transfer deadline.
At Inter, he shone for their former coach Jose Mourinho and he expects to be even better with Milan.
"I return to Italy with more hunger and will," the Sweden striker said. "Therefore, I hope to conquer the scudetto and the Champions League and I believe Milan can do it.
"I am certain, just as I am certain that we are stronger than Inter and that we will finish first. I am motivated as I've never been before in my career."
Ibrahimovic is as much of a fan as a player.
"The idea of playing next to (Alexandre) Pato and Ronaldinho motivates me a lot," he said, "but I cannot forget (Filippo) Inzaghi, who is a phenomenon. We can play me, Robinho, Ronaldinho, Pato and Inzaghi up front. No need to track back if you score plenty of goals."
Robinho, who played at Manchester City but ended up returning home to Brazil on loan last year, also has much to prove.
"I am delighted," the 26-year-old said. "In the summer, I had some contact with other teams but no concrete offer. I always wanted to play at Milan, it's one of the best European teams and all the Brazilians that have played here have had an amazing history.
"I will try to work hard and win as much as possible. I have come here to play and I will do my best to give my contribution."
