Bebe included in Fergie's Champions League squad

Manchester United new-boy Bebe has made the club's Champions League squad after all, as UEFA have now confirmed the 20-year-old is on the 25-man squad list.

• Hitzfeld rejected United over language fears

United reportedly submitted a list of 24 players to UEFA last week, with Owen Hargreaves among the names excluded as Sir Alex Ferguson declined to take a chance on a player who has experienced so many injury problems over recent seasons, and Bebe was also thought to have missed out.

However, the striker will be available for the club's Champions League games against Rangers, Valencia and Bursaspor, despite not making his first-team debut yet.

The interest around Bebe has intensified as he was selected for the Portugal Under-21 game against England and put in an indifferent showing.

Sir Alex Ferguson has sought to defend the £7.4 million striker whom he had never seen play before signing him, saying recently: ''Bebe is on a programme doing endurance work because his fitness levels are not near the ones we are at. Other than that he has done well. Ability-wise he is excellent. He is a terrific finisher.''

While Bebe is unlikely to be thrown into action immediately, he may well make his bow in the Carling Cup tie at Scunthorpe the following week.
