Miller and Weir seem set to start for Scotland

Kenny Miller and David Weir appear to be certain starters for Scotland in their opening Euro 2012 qualifier in Lithuania, although manager Craig Levein is yet to name his full team.

Levein will inform his players of his starting XI after training on Thursday with Alan Hutton set to be included if he comes through the session without any reaction to his recent hernia surgery.

But in-form Miller, who has scored five goals in three games for Rangers this season, will definitely be selected.

"One of the important things is to pick players in form,'' Levein said. "Kenny Miller would probably have played anyway but he will play tomorrow. It's good to know he's in form.''

Weir, Miller's Rangers team-mate, is set to become the oldest player to represent Scotland after Levein gave a strong hint that the 40-year-old would start in Kaunas.

"Davie Weir is probably the best centre-back we have got at this time,'' Levein said. "He is playing week in, week out at the highest level and playing to such a standard that this type of football is something he can cope with easily.''

Levein, who called up Jay McEveley and Garry O'Connor on Tuesday, will be without Steven Fletcher as the Wolves striker recovers from a foot injury. Fletcher has not travelled to Lithuania and will join up with the rest of the squad after they return home in a bid to be involved in Tuesday's Hampden qualifier against Liechtenstein.
