Wigan Athletic have completed the loan signing of Manchester United's young midfielder Tom Cleverley.
Cleverley, 21, impressed during United's pre-season campaign and Sir Alex Ferguson had said he would not let the England Under-21 international leave Old Trafford.
But the United boss has relented and Cleverley has now linked up with Latics manager Roberto Martinez at the DW Stadium.
"Tom is a very exciting young player and we are delighted he is coming to us," Martinez told the club's official website. "He can play in a number of positions and will provide us with some good new options, and add great competition to the squad.
"We have been watching him for some time and feel he is the right sort of player to join our squad; young, hungry, desperate to play for the club in the Premier League and to grow with us."
Cleverley spent last season at Watford, scoring 11 goals and claiming five assists in 33 Championship games.
