Besiktas launch surprise bid for Keane

Turkish club Besiktas have launched a late bid to sign striker Robbie Keane on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports.

• Spurs launch bid for Parker

Besiktas, who failed with an ambitious bid to sign Manchester City forward Robinho earlier this month, are hoping the lure of regular first team football will be enough to convince Keane to try his hand in the Super Lig.

And Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp confirmed that the club may let him leave.

"Maybe (there will be) one or two loans going out," said Redknapp. "We have got a practice match this morning. I am just going to watch that and I think it will be a quiet day."

Besiktas coach Bernd Schuster, who previously managed Real Madrid, has already recruited Guti from the Bernabeu and Ricardo Quaresma from Inter Milan as he looks to boost the club's profile.

Keane has found his chances limited at Tottenham with manager Harry Redknapp preferring to use Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch and Roman Pavlyuchenko.

The Republic of Ireland captain was loaned to Celtic for the second half of last season and he has been repeatedly linked with another temporary move away from White Hart Lane.
