No talks with Arteta
Widespread reports on Saturday have claimed Capello has spoken to Spanish midfielder Arteta about the possibility of him taking British citizenship and becoming eligible for England, but he would not be able to do so for six months and Soccernet understands there have been no discussions.
A source close to the England manager said: "As Arteta is not available and won't be for some time, he is not eligible so it is not an issue, and I do not believe that Fabio has spoken to the player about it, as there is no need to do so."
In a statement, the FA said: "We have not discussed the matter as a policy as we have not been in a position where the manager wants to select a 'dual passport player'."
Fulham goalkeeper Stockdale, though, is set to receive his first England call-up. The 24-year-old has only played three Premier League games but impressed Capello in Fulham's 2-2 draw with Manchester United at Craven Cottage last Sunday.
West Ham's Robert Green will not be eligible as he needs surgery. A Hammers insider told Soccernet that Green will take just eight days to recover, so the club opted for the surgery during international week as he would only have been included as back-up to Joe Hart.
Crouch's outstanding form for Spurs in the Champions League earns him a recall after missing out on the squad for the friendly against Hungary.
The source added: "Crouch is in good shape. Fabio watched him score a hat-trick at White Hart Lane (against Young Boys), so its 99% certain he will be back in the squad, particularly as there are a couple of forwards ruled out."
