Benitez aims for trophy success in Supercoppa

Inter Milan midfielder Dejan Stankovic is ready to close the chapter on the Jose Mourinho years and help write a new success story under Rafael Benitez.

Mourinho led Inter to the Treble last season - the domestic league and cup Double and the Champions League - with his departure to Real Madrid prompting the Nerazzurri's move for Benitez days after he left Liverpool.

The pressure is on the Spaniard to match Mourinho's achievements but, according to Stankovic, it is time to forget the past and look to the future, starting with Saturday's Supercoppa clash with Roma.

The Serbian midfielder told Sky Sport 24: "Each day we're learning something new with Benitez. He transmits to us his new ideas and we are ready. We have a lot of experience now and in a short space of time we have understood what he wants.

"Mourinho left a positive mark, winning three trophies in a year. He wrote the history of Inter, but it's history, it's in the past now. We can only thank Mourinho, who was great, but now we have other objectives. We're still hungry and we're not stopping. The good part starts now: there's a trophy to win tomorrow.''

Roma finished as runners-up in Serie A last season and also lost out to Mourinho's men in the final of the Coppa Italia. And director of football Bruno Conti is wary of Inter no matter who is in charge.

He said: "Inter have proved themselves to be a great team with great players.''

Former Inter striker Adriano will line-up for Roma tomorrow with Conti excited at the Brazilian's return to Italy after leaving the Nerazzurri to return to South America.

"He has come back to Italy motivated,'' Conti said. "We have seen his desire to work hard and return to his best.''
