Pienaar keen to sign ''right and fair'' new contract

Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar has dismissed rumours that he is looking to leave the club by insisting that he wants to sign a new deal - but only if the terms are "fair".

Pienaar is out of contract next summer, and several top clubs are rumoured to be keeping a close eye on his situation at Goodison Park.

Arsene Wenger is known to be keen on Pienaar, commenting that he would "get in the Arsenal team," while Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has also spoken of his admiration for the winger.

Amid a backdrop of celebrated managers declaring an interest in the player, Pienaar and Everton have not been able to reach an agreement over a new deal. Despite this, the 29-year-old is adamant that the club's fans have nothing to fear, with negotiations progressing amicably.

"I'll be honest. I have a year left on my contract. I'm happy to sign a new one, but at my age it has to be right and fair," he told Click Liverpool. "The only difference I've had with the club has been over what's right.

"There's been a lot of speculation about a transfer but I've never once said that I want to leave Everton. I love playing for Everton."

Pienaar joined Everton for £2 million from Dortmund in 2007, and has scored nine Premier League goals in his three campaigns to date.
