Ligue 1: Marseille midfielder Kabore vows to fight

Marseille midfielder Charles Kabore is adamant there is no panic in the camp following their dismal start to the season but admits it is time for the defending Ligue 1 champions to ''stand up and fight''.

OM have lost their opening two fixtures - to Valenciennes and newly-promoted Caen - and already have ground to make up on some of their title rivals. Saturday's home game against Lorient provides an excellent opportunity to get back on track and Kabore believes a victory will provide a platform to build on.

He told the club's official website: ''Currently we are not doing very well. We have dropped points but there is no reason to be alarmed because there are still many games to play. We must stand up and fight. Although we have started badly if we finish well then everyone will be happy.''

Many felt the opening-weekend loss to Valenciennes was merely an early-season blip but last weekend's setback posed some serious questions about Marseille's desire to retain their crown.

Kabore, however, insists desire is not an issue, adding: ''On the pitch, we are giving everything we have in order to pick up results, but it's just not happening yet. However, that's not going to stop us fighting. We must continue to work, we are professionals and the points will come.''

Marseille boss Didier Deschamps has prolific striker Brandao back from suspension this weekend and is set to include him in the starting XI.

Toulouse and Caen are the early pacesetters as the only two teams with six points out of six.

Alain Casanova's Toulouse host an Arles side whose elevation to the top flight has so far seen them register two defeats while Caen have been the surprise package, opening their campaign with a win over Lyon before stunning Marseille at the Stade Velodrome. This weekend, Franck Dumas's men will look to make it three wins out of three at Montpellier.

Like Marseille, Bordeaux have yet to register a point and they will look to get off the mark in Sunday night's late game at Paris St Germain.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Auxerre meet Valenciennes, Monaco go to Lens while Lyon will look to improve on their one-point haul at home to Brest.

Nancy visit Nice and Rennes host St Etienne. Sunday's fixtures are completed by Lille's trip to Sochaux.
