Arsenal face Spurs, Toon take on Chelsea

Arsenal and Tottenham will renew their north London rivalry as they were drawn against each other in the Carling Cup third round. Arsene Wenger usually chooses to blood his young stars in the competition, but may be forced to change his plans if he is to avenge the 5-1 semi-final defeat from 2007-08 that saw Spurs humiliate his side at White Hart Lane. There are also some interesting all-Premier League ties as Newcastle face Chelsea and Man City travel to West Brom. Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Freidel will head back to his old club Blackburn, while Sunderland and West Ham also face off. Bolton manager Owen Coyle will ready himself for an emotional return to Burnley - where some fans held signs of 'Judas' for him last season - and Stoke v Fulham pitches two sides who only finished a point apart last year against each other. Liverpool and current holders Manchester United got relatively easy ties as they face struggling League Two side Northampton and Championship side Scunthorpe respectively. Notts County's reward for knocking out Watford is a trip to Wolves, while MK Dons - who stunned Blackpool in the second round - face more Premier League opposition with a short journey to play Birmingham at St Andrew's. There is another north-west clash between Wigan and Preston, while elsewhere Portsmouth will tackle Leicester at Fratton Park, Peterborough face Swansea and Millwall will play Ipswich.
