Newly-promoted Hercules have bolstered their strikeforce ahead of the new Primera Division season by snapping up Paraguay international Nelson Valdez from Borussia Dortmund.
Valdez, who impressed at the World Cup, has cost the Alicante-based club €4.7 million after falling out of favour at the Westfalenstadion. The 26-year-old striker has scored nine goals in 43 appearances for his country.
Valdez, who was also linked with a move to Sunderland, said recently: "I have made up my mind to leave Dortmund and I hope to find a new club within the next fortnight.
"I am not officially part of the squad according to the coach Klopp and have not even been named in the squad for the cup game in Burghausen. Instead, I am going to follow an individual training regime with a fitness coach.
"Of course that hurts me, but what can I do? It just makes me want to sign for a new club as soon as possible."
